It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I wish to acknowledge the healing and regenerating power of Truth, to which I owe all that I have and all that I am. After several years of invalidism, in which I suffered from a complication of diseases; after enduring the horrors of the surgeon's knife and only realizing temporary relief, Christian Science found me in great mental darkness, besides being a victim of nervous and heart trouble. There were times that I could not walk a block, and I had for years been a sufferer from supposedly inherited stomach trouble. I was also wearing glasses, and the oculists said that I must have them fitted every six months and that I would never be able to go without them. After wearing them some eight years, I found one day, on reading Science and Health, that I could see without them, and I suffered no inconvenience at all from leaving them off. That was three years ago, and now my eyes are normal. I was also healed of an enlargement of my neck which caused me much trouble. After becoming thoroughly discouraged with material remedies, I turned to Christian Science and was perfectly healed. Knowing that sight is spiritual and cannot be lost, unconscious of heart action, the mental darkness has given place to a knowledge of ever-present Love. This last healing was slow.
I wish to express my thanks for this truth which has helped me to know God. To know Him aright brings perfect peace, happiness, and contentment. My earnest prayer is that infinite wisdom, Truth, and Love may make and keep me worthy to be found in the upward and onward march of the true Christian Scientists. I am grateful to God, and to our faithful Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us this message of Love. My one life-motive is to help others to an understanding of this truth. I also wish to express my gratitude for the Sentinel and Journal.
