Christian Science was brought very forcibly before me...
Christian Science was brought very forcibly before me about three and a half years ago by the complete healing of a friend from a disease pronounced incurable by medical practitioners. I had always before that time ridiculed its alleged cures, and although often urged by friends of sound judgment to try it for my own physical disabilities, I had persistently refused, until this case came under my immediate observation. This time I could not explain away the facts. Perfect results had been accomplished after other methods had failed. At this time I was a physical wreck, having been a sufferer from a complication of diseases for several years. I would often be compelled to resort to drugs in order to get sufficient relief from the continued and severe pain to get part of a night's sleep. Eight different physicians and specialists treated me. Their diagnosis usually differed, although it was finally established beyond question (according to this verdict) that the stomach was organically affected. At this point I was told by an eminent specialist that all he could do for me was to make me temporarily more comfortable.
In this extremity I sought the aid of a Christian Science practitioner. Results were immediate. The insomnia and all pain were at once relieved, and the healing of every discordant physical condition was accomplished in less than one week. Since that time my health has been perfect. My family as well as myself have all shared in the inestimable blessings of Christian Science, both physically and spiritually. Business cares have been lightened and happiness and prosperity increased. I can but feebly express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her consecrated and untiring labors for mankind, and as I grow into a better understanding of the immortal truths she is giving to the world, my desire grows greater each day to so live and prove her teachings that I may contribute my small share toward the realization of God's kingdom "in earth, as it is in heaven."
