The first experience which I had in Christian Science...
The first experience which I had in Christian Science came with help from a dear friend, the first Scientist I had ever met. She gave me many helpful thoughts, which have been passed round and have taken root, so that there are now about a dozen Scientists in our small town. When my second child was a little over a year old I had a serious illness. After six weeks I sent for the Scientist, who was staying at the time a few doors away, and after the first treatment I was free. I got up and went about the house as usual; the healing seemed to me instantaneous.
A month or two after this my little one was suddenly seized with a violent attack of throat trouble. I carried the child downstairs to my friend, who set to work mentally. In about two hours the trouble passed away never to return. My husband brought the child downstairs next morning as well as though nothing had happened. He asked her who had made her well, and in her beautifully simple way she said it was God. I have had two children born since then, and I can honestly say I did not have material help at their birth in any way. I have known for certain that God was all-sufficient in all seeming difficulties. I am thankful to our beloved Leader, who has shown mankind how to live.
