Mr. Editor:—You comment editorially upon an article which appeared in the Outlook relative to the inauguration of healing methods as adopted by Emmanuel Church, Boston, and which are being compared with Christian Science healing. It is not our purpose or desire to criticise or comment upon the endeavors of our Christian brethren in this direction, but we feel we must correct the erroneous claim made, that the method adopted by Emmanuel Church is in any sense in consonance with that practised by Christian Scientists. [The rector of Emmanuel Church has stated that the method employed by him is not Christian Science.]

If the plan introduced in Emmanuel Church is correctly stated, this Church has called to its aid eminent physicians and surgeons, who are to diagnose the cases which come before the Church for Christian healing and to determine if the case is one that can be cured by prayer or mental processes.

Christian Science teaches that all things are possible with God, and its adherents are taught to follow strictly both the teaching and practice of Christ Jesus in their efforts to overcome every form of discord. In James, 5:15, we read, "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick." This implies that all forms of sickness can be destroyed by reliance upon divine power alone; not that some are within God's power to heal, while others require material methods. Such practice as this would deny the omnipotence and omnipresence of God.
