For years I had tried to read the Bible understandingly, but seemed to get farther away from comprehending its truth, and during the last five years I studied various isms and ologies in the vain hope of finding something more satisfying than the orthodox beliefs. Not quite a year ago a friend who is a Christian Scientist remarked to me, "I know what religion you are seeking, it is Christian Science." She then gave me several copies of the Sentinel to read, and they convinced me that she did know what I had been seeking. Since that day I have been a student of Science and Health and believe that it presents the religion that satisfies. Since I was a child I had been in bondage to a supposedly inherited taste for tobacco, and consequently had been a slave to it, trying at times to quit its use, but always going back to it with even a greater desire. After having read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which is indeed the "Key to the Scriptures," I took two weeks' treatment from a practitioner, at the end of which time the desire for tobacco had entirely left me, the smell of it now being obnoxious to me. I can truly say that in the light of Christian Science the Bible is a different book to me, for now I see its spiritual interpretation. It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God, and to our revered Leader, that I acknowledge this spiritual advancement and gretly improved health.
John Snowgoose, Ashland, Ore.
