I send my testimony hoping it may help those who are...

I send my testimony hoping it may help those who are seeking aid in Christian Science. Several years ago I was working in the coal chutes in this place, and was taken with lung trouble, becoming so ill that no one thought I could live. I had the very best doctors, but they said there was not much that could be done for me, that the best they could do for me was to send me to Colorado,—that this might prolong my life. I went to Denver, Colorado, in the early summer, and there I stayed until fall. I took several trips in the mountains, climbing many peaks to get light air, and traveled in the woods, hoping that I might inhale something from the trees which would benefit me. In fact I did everything I could think of, sparing neither money nor effort, but in October I was convinced that all I had done was of no avail, as I was sinking gradually all the time. I made up my mind to go home and die, for I believed there was no help for me. At that time I heard of a specialist who was considered very good, and I decided to consult him. He made an examination, and said there was no hope, that nothing but death could relieve me. When I asked him how long I could live, he said about two or three months. I then asked him if I could live longer in Colorado than in Minnesota. He said perhaps a month longer in Colorado. I decided to go home, and left Colorado Oct. 1898. All through the winter I was very weak, and in the spring I went to a neighboring town to settle some accounts, thinking it would be my last business on earth. When I left I told my friends it was the last time I should see them. I had become weak mentally as well as physically and everybody believed that my time here was very short.

I then heard of Christian Science, and at first I thought it was of no use to try it, I had tried so much and failed; but at last I decided to give it a fair trial. I went to Minneapolis, and began taking treatment. The true took effect at once, for the first treatment relieved me, and from that time on I gained very rapidly. I began to have a strong desire for food, but was afraid to eat, as my stomach had been very weak. I consulted the practitioner, and she said I could eat whatever I wanted; that I was in God's hands, and that nothing could hurt me. I began to do she she advised and the food did not hurt me. In two months I had gained in flesh and was very well. The cough was more persistent, but that too finally left me. To-day I am a well man and can do any kind of work. I am very thankful to God for His goodness, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us how to demonstrate this goodness in our every-day affairs as well as in time of sickness.—O. P. Nelson, Willmar, Minn.
