[Written for the Sentinel.]

COMMUNION

This is a day of gladness, and my heart
Accepts with joy and love the better part;
Communes in secret with the One above,
Omnipotent and omnipresent Love.

No loneliness oppresses, and no fear;
I feel God's tender presence now and here.
The Father's law protects me from all ill,—
Contented, safe, when merged in wisdom's will.

Whate'er appears of want, I've learned to call
For every need on God, the All in all.
How. incomplete life seemed before I knew
From Mind, the source unseen, good springs to view.

O consciousness of Truth and Love and Life,
At one with God, apart from earthly strife,
This is the home wherein I love to dwell.
Herein I rest, and known that all is well.
