While Christian Science is based upon the premise that God is good, Spirit, Mind, Life, Truth, Love, and that He is the only cause and creator, the one infinite, self-existent, supreme, incorporeal being or Principle of the universe and man, and therefore that all that really exists by way of effect or phenomenon must of necessity be spiritual and good, it does not teach that a recognition or demonstrable understanding of this great fact is present with Christian Scientists in a perfect degree at this hour. While those who are Christian Scientists have perceived that the acceptance of the premise that God is infinite and God is good necessarily carries with it the logical conclusion that evil, being the opposite of good, is unreal and therefore destructible, nevertheless it does not deny the seeming reality of matter and evil to human sense and the consequent necessity of overcoming the human belief in the reality of evil with the divine understanding of the unity, infinity, and all-inclusiveness of good. While Christian Scientists claim to have made some progress along the line of overcoming evil with good, they do not pretend to have arrived at the point of complete and perfect demonstration of the Science of Christianity, but look for hope and encouragement to the example of Jesus, the perfect Wayshower, who with an unexampled record of practical achievements in the way of overcoming evil with good, said, "The works that I do shall he do also."
