As Christian Science is purely a system of mental and spiritual treatment, and does not teach physiology at all, it has no physiology to be "dangerous." Some profess to consider its theology heresy. Every great religious reformer from Jesus down to the present time has been called a heretic. Much of the theology of Christian Science is today being preached from the same pulpits that denounced it ten years ago. Its therapeutics may be called irregular by those who believe in medicine, but nevertheless it is healing thousands of diseases of all kinds that have been given up by the "regulars."

It is admitted that there is a "grain of truth in Christian Science," but this "grain of truth" is said to be "the influence of mind over matter," which is not Christian Science at all. In Science it is God, or Truth and Love, that heals, and not the mesmerism of the human mind. That this system heals all kinds of diseases, including what have been pronounced germ diseases, has been abundantly proven, and why should our critic object to its being used, as long as it does the work? The important thing, surely, is to heal sickness as quickly, safely, and thoroughly as possible. Is it wise to oppose a system simply because it may not be called "regular," to-day when there is so much need of healing?
