Christian Science does not deny the existence of evil of all sorts in human consciousness, but it does overcome evil with good by changing the consciousness just as we destroy darkness by an influx of light, and this is accomplished not by merely "asserting," but by knowing, becoming conscious, that the evil did not proceed from God, is not a reality of His universe, and can have no power over His creation. It is not the purpose of Christian Science ruthlessly to destroy the practice of our friends and brethren of the medical fraternity (we respect and revere their earnest, unselfish labors), but to adopt for themselves "a more excellent way."

There is no record that Jesus ever used a drug. He healed as a rule instantly; his specific was, "Go, and sin no more." Our schools have abandoned the method his example and teachings gave us, and for centuries have adhered to an empirical use of drugs, and the mission of Christian Science is to gently lead out of the realm of experiment into the regenerated condition where all may know how to destroy the mortal laws of sin, disease, and death, by the law of God—the law of harmony—as Jesus did and enjoined all his followers to do.

Jesus was our Wayshower. He lived to show us how to live and overcome the mortal law of sin and its results. He rose again to show us how to overcome "the last enemy," death. He "ascended" to show us how to so rise above mortal sense, into conscious spiritual existence, as to become invisible to human view.
