At the time I was led to try Christian Science I knew very little about it and had no faith in it whatever, but as my family physician and three specialists had frankly told me there was no medicine known to the medical faculty that could cure me, I ventured to try Christian Science as the last resort. During a surgical operation two years before, one of my kidneys had been seriously injured. At times I experienced dreadful distress, which lasted several days and confined me to my bed. One side had grown much larger than the other, and I began to lose my strength. My eyesight also failed me, at times almost entirely. The best surgeons of Grand Rapids, Mich., where I was living at that time, were consulted, and they recommended an operation; but as they considered the operation a critical one, and my chances of recovery very doubtful, they advised me to think of it only as a last resort. At this time I was advised to try Christian Science, and the operation never occurred. About three weeks after I began treatment, I was conscious of the kidney going back into its right place. The enlargement on my side disappeared, and I knew I was healed. My health improved very rapidly, and I have never had occasion to consult a physician, or to resort to materia medica during the past four years, either for myself or for any member of my family. I had been treated by different physicians for two years without any relief, and was very grateful indeed when three weeks' treatment in Christian Science relieved my suffering.—MRS.
