Let us very briefly consider the "five fundamental things"...

Washington (D. C.) Herald

Let us very briefly consider the "five fundamental things" that our ministerial critic sees in Science and Health:—

1. "There is no matter." It is well to note that the Scriptures have quite as little respect for matter as Mrs. Eddy has. Jesus himself said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." We might ask, How much is nothing, and what is the origin of that which is altogether unprofitable? Christian Science agrees with Paul, "The things which are seen [material phenomena] are temporal"—very real to the senses, but no part of Spirit's spiritual creation.

2. "There is no individual mind." Christian Science again agrees with Paul that we should have that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus"—the one infinite, eternal Mind, God, whom every child of God reflects, and who is the Mind of each one, just as there is but one sun, though all enjoy its light and heat.
