Reporter-Journal,

If one were to ask our learned critic as to what constitutes the "Christian faith," or what it means to be a "Christian," he would doubtless admit first of all that it is to be a faithful and consistent follower of Christ Jesus. Our Master's definition was concise and comprehensive when he said that those who truly loved and followed him would keep his commandments. In carefully studying the New Testament one is impressed with the fact that Jesus' command to heal the sick was no less imperative than to preach the gospel, and the adverse criticism of a sect that is honestly and earnestly striving to emulate the Saviour in all his works comes with poor grace from one who confines his ministrations to preaching the Word. Our critic mistakes when he asserts that Mrs. Eddy places her writings on an equality with the Bible. The Christian Science textbook is what its name indicates, a "Key to the Scriptures,"—in other words, a Bible commentary, and it is but just to state that "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" has accomplished more for humanity than any other Bible commentary. Through its spiritual interpretation of Holy Writ it has healed multitudes of disease and sin, implanting in them a deep and abiding love for God's Word and a desire to do His will.
