When I think of all the years I have enjoyed since being...
When I think of all the years I have enjoyed since being lifted out of consumption, that disease which people who know nothing of Christian Science look upon as a "fell monster," I cannot be thankful enough for the blessed truth which heals all our diseases. For three years (years which now seem like a dream) I suffered, growing worse all the time, although I had three of the best doctors in this city. The last one gave me no hope, saying, "You have only a little while to live—two months at the farthest;" but his sentence of death was pronounced by mortal mind, and could not stand in the presence of the truth which makes free. A dear Christian Science practitioner who came here, gave me one treatment, and then left me in care of another practitioner, who worked faithfully four weeks, when treatment was discontinued. I was then a well woman, thought there were indications the following spring that seemed to denote that the error had not been entirely overcome. At that time I received treatment for two or three weeks, and since then, I am thankful to say, I have known the complete supremacy of Truth over error. This was in 1895. My beliefs about God and religion, before studying our dear Leader's book, Science and Health, were vague and unsatisfactory, while now I rejoice that I have entered into "the larger thought of God,"—a thought which amounts to understanding. This helps me to know how to realize the truth for myself and family as well as for others. We cannot be thankful enough for this blessed, saving Gospel. I am thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, whose teaching has helped me to be better and to do better.
Mrs. Mary B. La Marche, Eau Claire, Wis.
