At the birth of my second child, in March, 1902, a great deal of trouble was experienced. As I failed to recover properly an examination was made, which disclosed a tumor of the uterus. I was then taken to a hospital here to have it removed. A specialist from Chicago was called to perform the operation, but after an incision had been made it was decided that it would be dangerous to remove it while I was in such a weak condition. In about a week an abscess formed in the wound which had been made by the incision, and as I failed to improve I was taken to a hospital in Chicago. After being there three weeks I was brought back to my home to regain sufficient strenth to endure the removal of the tumor.
During the time that I was waiting to regain my strength, I was constantly under the care of a physician and a trained nurse. About ten days after I came home I had an attack of erysipelas in my head, which became so swollen that I could scarcely see. My hair was cut off close to the scalp, so that remedies could be applied. The attending physician said that he could offer no hope of my recovery, and a few days later he gave up the case.
A Christian Science practitioner was then called upon, and he began treatment on Monday afternoon of the last week in June, 1902. The following Wednesday morning I was up and dressed and walked from my bed to the breakfast table, something I had not done since the baby was born in March. Thursday evening I went for a drive. The following Monday, after one week's treatment, I was entirely healed. The erysipelas had completely disappeared, the abscess was healed, all pain and discomfort gone; my eyes, which had been affected by the erysipelas, were perfectly well. The tumor had also disappeard. When I began Christian Science treatment I weighed about one hundred pounds. I am now in perfect health and weigh about two hundred pounds. Since my healing a child has been born to us and I was under Christian Science treatment at the time of its birth. I experienced no difficulty whatever.
