In 1889 I first heard of Christian Science through a little girl four years old. Her mother had been healed of asthma, and the child came to see me almost every day, and I felt better from that time. Later, her mother treated me. At that time I seemed a complete wreck, mentally and physically. I had come to the place where I did not believe there was a just God, for I had suffered so much, but through Christian Science I was then healed of some of my complaints, although the healing was slow. The doctor had given me up, declaring that the worst trouble was neuralgia, which he said was liable to go to my heart at any time, and that would be the end. I was quickly and completely healed of constipation, but it was four or five years before the neuralgia was entirely overcome. I have been wonderfully helped mentally. The Bible and Science and Health are my daily companions. I have seen many wonderful healings in Christian Science from all manner of diseases and from sin. I have had many proofs that God is Love. In all these years I have never been confined to my bed more than a few hours. About a year ago I was taken down very suddenly with what appeared to be an attack of typhoid pneumonia, but by the blessed truth, spoken through a dear Scientist, I was raised up again, and have been enabled to see more clearly the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil, the nothingness of the belief of life in matter. Christian Science teaches us to overcome death, not to submit to it. Some day we shall understand that God is the only Life, and then we shall overcome death.—Serena Pollock, Long Beach, Cal.
