For more than twenty-five years I had suffered from...
For more than twenty-five years I had suffered from many ills of the flesh, among them being indigestion, constipation, headaches, palpitation, and a female weakness for which for some months I was obliged to have treatment several times a week before I learned of Christian Science.
I had consulted several physicians both in Canada and the United States, besides taking quantities of medicine. In 1888 my husband decided to go to Oregon, hoping that a change of climate might benefit me, but after nine years I came back worse than when I went away. The first of August, 1903, my aunt came to visit us. I knew that she was a student of Christian Science, but I had no faith in it, and was by this time ready to give up in despair. I had to be very careful in going up and down stairs, and any excitement would give me palpitation. All material remedies had failed to give relief. When my aunt came, she told me of the blessed truth that does make us free. She had told me of her wonderful healing eight years before, but although I thought it very beautiful, I then felt that I could never understand it. She now invited me to attend a service in our place, which I did, and met some of the Scientists. Two weeks after her return home, I went to visit her. I remained three weeks, when, through the reading of Science and Health, and her help, I came home a changed woman. Old things had passed away, all things had become new to me. The healing then begun went steadily on, and to-day I praise God with a grateful heart for the blessed, healing truth which He has revealed to us through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
