Our little boy, two years old, had a cold and cough for several days. I worked as usual, studying the Bible and Science and Health, but suddenly fear took possession of me, as every symptom seemed so like an attack of pneumonia that our oldest boy had several years ago, when the doctor blistered him from his neck to his waist. I continued reading, but the fear that my husband would come in and insist upon having a doctor was very great, and the baby seemed worse. I then took up a copy of the Sentinel, read an article, and at once realized that I had been trying to hurry, and to help him my way. The words quoted, "Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's," lifted the seeming load from my shoulders and the demonstration was made. The child went to sleep and all alarming symptoms were gone. No one can realize the peace and happiness I felt except those who have been through the same thing in materia medica and found it worse than useless with children.
From the very first I felt that Christian Science was the truth, but there seemed so many obstacles to overcome, and I depended more on others, feeling that I had not understanding enough to work out the problems. I now see that this is my work, and even though I read every day that is not enough, I must put the truth into practice. I am thankful to Mrs. Eddy for the work she has done for us all, showing us how to know God and that He is "a present help."—Mrs. R. S. Towson, Camden, N. J.
