Throughout my childhood I was taught by a loving Christian mother to read the Bible, pray, and try "to do as Jesus would." When only ten years old, many points in the orthodox teaching puzzled me, and I began to wonder why prayer was not more frequently answered. Three years later, a terrible affliction came to one dear to me. One day I spent a long time in reading the Bible, then in simple faith I knelt to ask for that dear one's recovery. A dreadful shock followed when no healing came. For days I lived as in a dream. Later, this feeling wore away, but I never again prayed until after coming into Christian Science, when twenty-one. I never lost faith in the existence of a God, but I saw no possibility of our understanding Him, Sometimes I was reckless, other times much depressed, but these conditions seldom showed themselves to those about me. I was thought to be of a happy, light-hearted disposition.

When in a condition that medical skill could not reach. I turned to Christian Science for help. I received what I sought, and far more than I asked for. Soon I found myself praying, and my prayers were being answered. My experience proved beyond a doubt that Christian Science heals disease. I was healed of astigmatism, constipation, female disease, serious internal injuries from accident, tuberculosis of five years' standing, etc., and for this healing I am deeply grateful and long to see others likewise relieved. When it comes to speaking of the spiritual uplift, words fail. I can only say that if we faithfully put into practice what we gain from the study of the Bible and

Science and Health, we find not only physical healing but "the peace of God which passeth all understanding."
