From my earliest childhood I never knew what it was to...
From my earliest childhood I never knew what it was to be perfectly well or happy. Conditions seemed to grow worse as I grew older, until life became more of a burden than I cared to endure. In April, 1902, I attended my first Christian Science service. I shall never forget my astonishment. Every one looked well and happy. Their love radiated even to the stranger within their gates and at that first service I was healed of nervousness, sick-head-aches, and insomnia. I too was baptized in sunshine, and for three months I seemed to be on the mount of transfiguration. As the good results continued. I bought a copy of our text-book, Science and Health, as I wanted to know what had done the work which physicians had failed to accomplish. While reading the book I was cured of sick-headaches, and laid aside glasses which I had worn for eight years.
I united with The Mother Church, and with First Church of Christ, Scientist, New York. Since then I have been trying to overcome self, and in spite of the problems, the happiness and the great spiritual uplifting have remained, —that peace which the world cannot give.
Christian Scientists have good reason to thank our heavenly Father for His priceless gift in this age of materialism. for this truth which has brought us nearer God and has also enabled us to stretch out strong, helpful hands to our fellow-men. I cannot express my love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for showing me the way out of the wilderness of pain, sickness, and sorrow, and for all the many blessings Christian Science has brought to me. I have indeed found the peace which the world cannot give, for in Science I have found the Christ.—MINNIE T. YOST, New York, N. Y.
