Before reading Christian Science literature I was in an...
Before reading Christian Science literature I was in an unsettled state. Although a member of an orthodox church, I did not feel satisfied with my spiritual attainments and was yearning for something better. I was prejudiced against Christian Science, as I had always heard it severely criticised by those who knew nothing about it, but when I began to read some of the Sentinels and Journals which a kind friend gave me, I realized almost immediately that Christian Science was true, and was what I had been looking for. In about two weeks after I began to read some of the testimonies, I was able to take off my glasses, which I had worn steadily two years for compound astigmatism. It is nearly ten months since I took them off, and I have no further use for them, as my eyes are perfectly well. Since reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I realize that God is Love, and that He is always ready and willing to help us whenever we go to Him. The Bible is now a dear book to me, whereas a few years ago I read it merely from a sense of duty.
My prayer is that I may so live this blessed truth as to be worthy of the name Christian Scientist.
Carrie F. Howe, Millis, Mass.
