LETTERS TO OUR LEADER
Northampton, Mass., Sept. 14, 1906.
Dear Leader:— May I share with you one of the first fruits from your article "Personal Contagion"? Two months ago a patient at the Institution for Consumptives in Rutland, who had been there a year and a half after other resources had failed, was declining so rapidly that the physicians advised her to leave the place for a while and have a change of climate. She came home and was reminded of her promise to try Christian Science if other things failed. When she asked me to take her case my first thought was one of discouragement, then the divine voice whispered your question, "What went ye out for to see?' A person or a Principle?"—a patient in a serious condition needing help, or divine Principle manifested in harmony? The latter was clearly seen and the light of God manifested itself beautifully. The true healing was the awakening of thought to Truth. The first three days she gained three pounds in weight, was able to do things about the house, and to eat anything set before her. She has accepted a position since then, is working every day, and walking to her work. It would have gladdened your heart Wednesday evening to hear her expression of gratitude for the unfoldment of Truth.
This is only one of many thousands who have been blessed as the result of your labors. I have often regretted that I did not join the Busy Bees in providing a room for you in The Mother Church, and my prayer is that I may even now become a Busy Bee through obedience.
