ASLEEP, AND AWAKE

All the world was dark and drear,
Doubt and discord, fright and fear;
What to do but weep?
Wherefore should we drag along?
Everything was wicked, wrong!
When we were asleep!

All the world is bright and fair,
Harmony is everywhere;
Joyful noises make!
All we see is, we confess,
Health and holy happiness,—
When we are awake!
