Christian Science was brought to my attention some years...
Christian Science was brought to my attention some years ago, and although I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I then failed to receive a right understanding of the truth revealed in the grand exposition of Christ's teaching. I knew of many who had been healed, but I was only an indifferent student of the text-book, yet I felt that it contained the truth that healed and that I needed. I was an inveterate user of tobacco for more than thirty-five years; it seemed that I could not work or enjoy life without a cigar or pipe. Last October I again began the reading of Science and Health, and from the start I had a clearer understanding of it than before. What had once seemed obscure to me, was now clear. One evening the pipe seemed distasteful to me; I could not enjoy it as I once did. That night I threw away pipes, tobacco, etc., and have not smoked since. The odor of tobacco is now exceedingly disagreeable to me. I had a severe attack of illness afterward, but was healed in a couple of days by reading the text-book.
I am thankful that God has raised up Mrs. Eddy to bring to mankind the knowledge of this great truth, so helpful and so full of hope to all.
