Words could not express the blessings that have come...
Words could not express the blessings that have come to us through Christian Science. Nearly five years ago my wife was spending the summer in Iowa. She had been sick for years, and was suffering from anæmia, dyspepsia, insomnia, and melancholia. At the time when Christian Science was brought to our attention she was at the point where life did not seem worth living. The physicians in the Iowa town had diagnosed her case, and gave her friends to understand that it was alarming. She came back from her old home in Iowa, never expecting to see again the many dear ones left there. A physician here was called, and he told her he did not know what the trouble was, but immediately told a friend that she had quick consumption. A dear friend, whose husband had been instantaneously healed in Christian Science, told me that when my wife felt she had suffered enough, to come and see this friend, and they would take the case to God. She did this, and after the first treatment she slept soundly all night. In three weeks she was perfectly well. I believe that she was healed at the first treatment. Our little girl was cured of a very large abscess on her neck, and our little boy of catarrh of long standing, that had become so bad he could hardly breathe. Both of them were cured of scarlet fever in a few days.
For years, up to four years ago, I had suffered every fall and spring with an attack of tonsilitis, fevers, etc. At such times I suffered terribly, not eating or drinking a drop of anything for five days. This ailment was cured instantaneously by the truth. About two years ago I was attacked with pleurisy and pneumonia, which was overcome in a little over a week.
While this healing seemed wonderful, it is only a small part of the blessedness which has been brought to our lives. The contentment and peace of mind, the satisfaction, the absolute certainty that God is Love and that divine Love will meet our every need, is so uplifting, that our greatest desire is that our understanding may increase, that we may be more and more like Him. I would indeed be desolate to-day had not this light been brought to us when it was.—Edward B. Fritz, Chicago, Ill.
