About five years ago Christian Science was first brought...
About five years ago Christian Science was first brought to my notice as a means of healing. A friend induced me to try it. I did so, and was benefited; but under stress of circumstances, and moving about from place to place, I did not regularly take up the reading of the text-book until a year or two later. I have never forgotten the impression made by the first conversation with a practitioner, nor the conviction that went with it. During the years that I have been trying to work in this Science, I have had repeated proofs of the power of Truth, thus applied, in the healing of colds, neuralgia, toothache, fever, and other ailments. I have also had a number of demonstrations in overcoming the effects of accidents, even when to sense surgery would seem to be required. Although much needed, the physical healing is really the smallest part of the good we obtain from an understanding of Christian Science. When we begin to see that God is our only source of supply, and learn that through a knowledge of Him we establish peace in the home and with our neighbors, then are we beginning to climb the heights of Science.
When I think of all the benefits I have received, I feel that I should have done a great deal more to prove my gratitude and love for our Leader, who has so faithfully worked to establish this truth for the whole world.
Lena T. Barclay, Mt. Washington, Md.
