Since I have accepted Christian Science it has kept me...
Since I have accepted Christian Science it has kept me well and harmonious, both mentally and physically. It not only heals, but protects us from disease, sickness, and sin. In my own experience, my understanding of Christian Science, practically lived every day, has kept me well and happy. I can look back over more than eighteen years, in which we have been saved and protected from contagious diseases. Personally, I have many times met and overcome attacks,—when, as I am very sure, I would have been sick,—just by destroying the sick thoughts before they could express themselves on the body; therefore I know that Christian Science is a preventive; that it keeps us well, if we watch our thoughts. I feel sure that we are protected much more than we are grateful for. To my sense, it is a much greater demonstration to keep well through the understanding of Christian Science, than even to heal oneself after one is sick.
I feel very grateful for God's goodness to me. Since I have taken up this work, I have had many trials of my faith, and many temptations to battle with; but Christian Science has always been victorious. I have also had many opportunities where I have been able to help others; often one treatment has accomplished the healing work.
Last but not least, I thank God that, through the study of Science and Health and the effort to be obedient to the teachings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I can say without fear that I am a better man. It was through the reading of Science and Health that I learned to love the Bible; up to the time that I studied our text-book I would only read the Bible from a sense of duty and rather superstitiously. For this regeneration I am sincerely grateful to our beloved Leader.—Frederick Mann, Boston, Mass.
