It affords me pleasure to give my testimony to what...
It affords me pleasure to give my testimony to what Christian Science has done for me. In June, 1901, my attention was called to it and cases of healing were cited. I investigated a number of these cases; some of them were of persons known to me and others were of strangers. I became satisfied of the genuineness of the healing and attended the Wednesday and Sunday services. I had suffered for more than thirty years with bronchial trouble and asthma, and during the last twenty years I had at different times severe hemorrhages of the lungs and bronchial tubes, which very nearly ended my earthly career. I had heart trouble, so pronounced by a number of reputable physicians, was greatly reduced in weight and strength, and there seemed no hope for me from the view-point of materia medica; indeed my friends generally expected my early demise. At the suggestion of a Scientist I began the study of Science and Health, and placed myself under the treatment of a practitioner. Nearly all my life my home had been in St. Louis, where for twenty-five years I was managing principal of one commercial college and president of another. During this period I became extensively acquainted in and out of my profession, and desiring to do whatever of good I may have opportunity to do, I earnestly urge all who are afflicted to try Christian Science, believing that the same beneficial effects will follow as did in my own case. I owe my life, perfect health, and ability to do more and better work in my sixty-third year than at any previous period of my life, to this old-new truth,—the gospel that heals the sick and saves the sinner.
I am a daily student of the Bible and Science and Health and have not since June, 1901, taken any material remedy knowing that Truth as of old is the ever-present healing power. Truthfully may it be said that Science and Health is the voice of God to this age, and it contains the whole of Christian Science, or the Science of healing through Mind.
