I came into Christian Science a year ago, and up to that...
I came into Christian Science a year ago, and up to that time I had suffered with severe colds, coughs, and numerous other ailments. I was one of ten children, and had a brother and sister pass on with consumption. I myself seemed to be the most delicate of all the children, and the thought was held over me continually that I would be the next to go, and I had quite a time to rid myself of this fear. When our folks would look at me with that sad expression,—feeling there was no hope for me,—I would say that I need not go into consumption, just because my brother and sister had gone; but shortly before Christmas of 1904, I was very sick, and coughed so badly that I was on the verge of giving up. I then had a Chicago friend visit me. who asked me to look into Christian Science. I told her I would, and the following Sunday I attended the service in St. Louis, my home city at that time. I felt at once that Christian Science was the true religion. I had looked for it, it seemed, for years. I consulted a practitioner and made arrangements to have treatment. I had not told my parents that I was interested in this Science but after I had a week's treatment, my mother remarked to my aunt that I looked like a different person since I had stopped taking medicine. I then told her I had taken up Christian Science and that I owed this change in myself to God's all-power.
I am trying to live this truth in my home and to prove that there is only good in Christian Science. I thank our dear Leader. Mrs. Eddy, for all she has done in bringing us this healing truth.—Eva Orman, Wilder, Mont.
