It is a little over two years since I was healed through the knowledge of the truth, as taught in Christian Science. Words cannot express my sense of gratitude for the rest and peace it has brought to me. I was healed of many diseases, in their worst form. These had made their appearance six years previous, while I was quite young. I was treated by three doctors, from whom I received no benefit. My condition became worse, and they told me that I would have to undergo an operation, so I was taken to Keokuk, Iowa, to a medical college, and had the best surgeon in the State of Iowa. The operation was a severe one, as an incision was made which required twenty-four stitches to close up the wound. The doctor told me that I must not go up and down stairs fast, and that I must not do any hard work, or the trouble would come back. I was in the hospital three weeks, and came home in a worse condition than when I went. Instead of gaining, I grew worse; then we called in another doctor, and he said that another operation was my only hope, but that I was too weak to have it at present. For this I have been very thankful. After consulting the sixth doctor, I was given only a short time to live.

Then, when all hopes had failed, I was told about Christian Science, which I was slow to take up. It was two months before I would consent to try it, as I had spent so much money and time with the doctors. When I was at last persuaded to try Christian Science, I was carried one Wednesday about a half mile, and placed in a buggy and taken to the boat, then to the train, and finally reached the practitioner's house. The next morning I came home, feeling no better, but by Sunday evening I felt the effects of Christian Science. I was like a little bird just out of the nest, — I wanted to fly. Christian Science has done wonders for our family, and I feel as though I cannot praise God enough. I am very thankful to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, — the one who has revealed to the world the healing power of Truth.
