One of the references in the lesson on "Matter" in the Christian Science Quarterly for March 13, 1904, was the story of the "three young Hebrew captives" and their deliverance from the fiery furnace. As I studied this lesson it brought to my thought anew an instantaneous healing which I experienced not long ago at a Wednesday evening service at the Mother Church.

When I left home for Boston, early in the day, I was suffering from quite a severe sore throat. During the after noon, as I found opportunity, I denied the error and tried to dispel the fear in my consciousness, for in times past similar attacks had resulted in much suffering and a loss of voice for at least a day or two. When the time came to attend the service in the evening the condition was worse, if anything, than during the day.

The Scripture selection read at this service was the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, followed by correlative passages from our text-book, and it seemed to me that I had never before so fully realized the beauty and power contained therein, especially in the following sentence from page 243, "The divine Love which made harmless the poisonous viper, which delivered men from the boiling oil, from the fiery furnace, from the jaws of the lion, can heal the sick in every age, and triumph over sin and death." Truly was the Scripture fulfilled,—"He sent his word, and healed them,"—for when we arose to sing the second hymn
