Luke wrote one of the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, the first history of Christianity, and yet he does not record one word from Jesus or the apostles favorable to medicine. It is well that Luke wrote so much of the New Testament; because a doctor would not have omitted any word or act of Jesus or the apostles that could be construed in favor of medical practice. When Eutychus fell out of the third story window it was Paul and not Luke who healed him. Luke also records the case of the "woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched."

To-day in all our great cities may be found physicians who have given up the practice of medicine, and who are now practising Christian Science healing, so that we can readily understand how Luke left medicine and followed Christ's way of healing the sick and reforming sinners.
