A religion that bears fruit in the lives of its adherents is one which the world pre-eminently needs. If it can be said of the Christian Scientist that he is a reliable business man, a good husband, and a public-spirited citizen, then the country owes to the tenets of his religion some thanks for the benefits he has conferred upon the community. In this twentieth century, the vast increase of population of the globe is emphasizing the urgent need of universal brotherhood and a better understanding of how to develop the latent resources of the earth through national and international co-operation. Commercial relations have probably done more to bring this into effect in recent years than has either religion or education. We believe, however, that if the lives of Christian Scientists embody the teachings and example of their Leader, the Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, this much desired consummation will be gradually approximated, and an impulse will be given to the cause of Christianity such as it has never before received since the commencement of the Christian era.
