The Master said of those who understood his teaching,...
The Master said of those who understood his teaching, "If they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. This was proven true to me early last spring. My oldest daughter brought home some candy and treated us all with it. The children were late for school, so they just took one candy apiece and ran on.
After dinner I sat down to mend with the candy by my side, and ate seven or eight pieces, one after another. Soon I began to get very fearful, I didn't know what it meant. I stopped my mending at once, took my Science and Health, and worked mentally against the fear until I felt better, but it still seemed as though something dreadful was coming. I worked on until after supper, then I discovered what it was, The children came home and told me of their experience with just the little they had eaten, and I still worked on, trusting in God.
About midnight I was awakened, and I seemed to be boiling, the foam coming out of my mouth and other conditions being equally alarming. I was indeed put to the test, but the still, small voice said, "Fear thou not, for I am with thee." In the morning I started down stairs as usual to get breakfast. When I got down I knew nothing more of myself for some time. My husband saw me coming but paid no attention, not knowing anything of my trials. He said that I sat on a chair, stooped over, and fell, striking the side of my face on the floor, and there I lay as one dead. He quickly called my daughter; then raised me up on the chair, stood beside me in silent prayer, my daughter on the other side reading Science and Health. This is what I saw when I became conscious again, and no words could express my joy. I knew I was healed, and more than that, I knew what my family would do in time of trouble. This satisfaction I cannot express.
