From my earliest recollections I suffered from catarrh, which had been inherited. As the years went by, instead of improving, it grew steadily worse,—medicine did not cure it, although I tried many remedies, the disease spread until I was in a very bad condition. By the time I was twenty-one I could not breathe through my nose, either during the day or at night, because the disease had affected both nostrils so that one was entirely closed and the other nearly so. It was impossible to sit in a warm room without suffering great discomfort; the hot summers were a sore trial; damp days could hardly be endured, and a strong light affected my eyes so severely as to cause headaches. I am, however, more grateful for the spiritual awakening which has come through an understanding of the Bible as unfolded in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. My heart is filled with gratitude to our beloved Leader, whose unselfish life and untiring labor in behalf of mankind has made possible in these days a return of the primitive Christian healing,—
