I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me. Ten years ago I was clerking in a shoe store, and after working three years I was so run down with dyspepsia that I had to give up my position and try outdoor exercise,—camping out, etc. I tried four different doctors but kept growing worse till about ready to be put in the grave. As there seemed nothing else to do I tried Christian Science, and to my great surprise I was healed in four days and was able to eat anything on the table, and in four weeks I gained thirty-six pounds.
Four years ago when I started in business, many said my business would not last two weeks, some said five or six months, for, to sense, my means were limited. It is now four years next month, and my sales are increasing every month. For this I certainly am thankful and give Christian Science the whole credit, for it does teach that a man can do an honest business and succeed. The Scripture says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." This passage and promise gives me great peace and comfort, for it was proved true by the great Way-shower, Jesus, when he multiplied the loaves and fishes and showed to the whole world that divine Mind is the source of supply, and that every good and perfect gift cometh from God. I could not get along without Christian Science; it is my daily guide and comforter. It does prove that if we trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not unto our own understanding, He will direct our path. It would take pages to tell what this Science has done for me, but I find that the best way to express my thanks is to strive to be more Christlike, to be more willing to forgive and ask to be forgiven, to love my neighbor as myself; and these "fruits will prove what the understanding of God brings to man" (Science and Health, p. 496) here and now.
