To the Christian Scientist, the proof that the inspired Word is contained in the Scriptures, is the inspiration he is experiencing in his daily life. The "breathing into" imparted by the Holy comforter, the ever-present Christ, is unfolding within him a spiritual uplifting, destroying the demands of the carnal mind and its desires, and illumining the sacred pages of the Scriptures as they brightly mirror every experience of his individual life.
It is wonderfully refreshing to hear a minister boldly assert that inspiration is experienced to-day as throughout past ages. Such a man can better understand and appreciate the position of Christian Scientists toward their Leader, the author of their text-book. The mistake, which he comes near committing, is inferring that Christian Science is considered by its devotees as a special dispensation rather than recognizing that through years of suffering and purifying trials, disappointed by and weaned from reliance on material sense, Mrs. Eddy became receptive to the inbreathing spiritual sense of the Scriptures, and lovingly gave it to a waiting world.
