Following the Pattern
An understanding of tapestry making furnishes a good lesson. The pattern hangs above the heads of the weavers. They study and watch it closely while their hands guide the shuttle and control the warp and woof. It is an interesting fact in connection with this work that the weaver cannot at any time see the right side of the tapestry until it is completed. "He can only weave and wait." He knows, however, that by studying the perfect pattern which hangs above him and by applying the rules which he has learned, he will give to his employer an exquisite handiwork when the web is loosed and the right side is turned towards the light.
In making our demonstrations in Christian Science, the physical senses present the wrong side of things and we seem to be working on that side. However, by holding steadfastly to the teachings of Science and Health, and working with understanding, the Christ idea, which is the perfect pattern, will be manifested, and we shall hear the "still small voice" whisper, "Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many."
