I wish to acknowledge the benefits I have received from...
I wish to acknowledge the benefits I have received from Christian Science. Before hearing of this teaching I was troubled with sick headache, constipation, dyspepsia, piles, catarrh, and almost every disease to which mortals are subject. This sick headache dated from childhood, so that I could never plan any work ahead. I might do a full day's work one day and be in bed the next. The physicians told me I inherited it, and would never be rid of it. I took everything I could hear of that was recommended, but I suffered so at times, that I actually believed my head would burst open. All the medicine I ever took did me no good. Some would relieve the pain for a short time but did not remove the cause.
One day in conversation with a friend he recommended Christian Science to me, and said it had healed a relative of his of heart disease, and it might help me. This was the first time I had ever heard of Christian Science. I applied to a practitioner in Chicago, who gave me absent treatment, and advised me to buy Science and Health and study it, which I did, and I have been studying it ever since.
It is now nearly fifteen years since I heard of Christian Science for the first time, and since then I have relied entirely on the teachings of the Bible and our text-book for health and happiness. Divine Love has led me on.
