His Children

We know that Jesus, who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," acknowledged no earthly parents, but said, "One is your Father, which is in heaven." This we can call the new understanding which has no place in the old belief of life, that is here to-day but gone to-morrow. Error has often said to me when demonstrating for my children, that if they were not mine how much easier it would be for me to know the truth for them. One day when I had been praying for my little boy, who was sick, these words came to me which I had read when a child, in one of our school readers: "Oft I'd heard my mother pray for me till the gushing tears relieved her and she rose and softly whispered, 'God will ever keep my child.' " The more I thought of those words, the more fear they brought until I realized that God will ever keep His child; not my child, for in truth we are all God's children, and how glad we are when we can prove this truth in even a little measure.

If you trust your waking to God, God will meet you in the morning as you wake with His divine sunshine and love, and He will give you the consciousness that through the day you have God to take charge of you continuously with His almighty power.—Andrew Murray.
