Among the Churches

As a visitor from Sydney, Australia, I would like to express to the Field my gratitude to God for the great spiritual uplifting I have received since coming to America. This unique Love Feast has far excelled all expectations, and the time and money consumed in traveling ten thousand miles has been compensated for a hundred times over.

Of the many Love-replenished tables prepared for us, none delighted me and my family so much as our visit to Concord on Monday, June 29. This will ever live in our memory, and the words of our Leader have meant and will mean more to us than we can express. They will go with us to help us ever on our way "from sense to Soul."

We have a message of joy to bring to the Field. The work in Australia is advancing steadily. There are many earnest students, both men and women, in the Sydney Field who are doing what they can to spread the knowledge of this healing Truth. Christian Science literature has been sold in quantities to people far away in the country, and much has been distributed freely where it was acceptable, so that people of all ranks are interested. As an example of the growth of Christian Science I will give a little incident. Three years and a half ago I came to Boston and had class instruction from one of Mrs. Eddy's students. On my return to Sydney I decided to give up every other occupation and to devote all my time to my Father's work. I applied for an office in one of the principal buildings in the city of Sydney, which the owners refused to let me have for Christian Science work, and they were quite indignant that I should ask for it for such a purpose. I convinced them of my social standing by bringing a letter from the mayor of the city. They then allowed me to have an office on the understanding that I would leave at any time if requested to do so. I opened the office and remained for one month without any one coming to enquire about Christian Science. I did not get discouraged for I knew that "Patience must 'have her perfect work' " (Science and Health, p. 454). Soon after one person came and then others. I remained in that office over two years and a half, and the day I left it to start for Boston there were more people coming for help than could be attended to. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to our dear Leader for what she has done and is still doing for humanity. I would also like to thank the dear workers at headquarters, for all they have achieved.
