In proof of the effectiveness of the truth of Christian Science, I would like to tell about some accidents that have come under my observation.

A few years ago a lady, in descending some stone steps very hastily, caught her dress in the screen door, which caused her to be thrown violently to the pavement. In some way one ankle was twisted and turned under her so that her entire weight fell upon it. With assistance she arose, and the sense of pain was so acute that it was thought at first some bones were broken. A Christian Scientist was quickly summoned and treatment given. For some time the pain was most intense, but an hour later the pain ceased; all the laws of mortal mind, including inflammation, discoloration, etc., were so completely destroyed that the patient went to her work in the store and stood on her feet until 9 p.m. and walked eight blocks to her home. Next day she did not notice the slightest evidence of an accident, and that ankle is to-day as strong as ever it was.

About a year ago I was called to the telephone and received this message: "Treat me at once, I've sawed off the end of my thumb." I immediately began to realize the Truth of being, and continued treatment for about thirty minutes. Two hours later, I saw the patient at his home and he told me that all the time he lost from his work was just while he was typing up the wound; that he had not had a single pain and did not think he would have. Treatment was continued about a week, and afterward he testified at a Wednesday evening meeting, saying that during the healing there had been no pain, swelling, or inflammation at any time and in five weeks his thumb was as perfect in shape and size as the other, new flesh and nail having grown out complete. It was cut off straight through the nail a nd flesh, about half the nail being lost.
