Among the Churches

The corner-stone of the new church edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of this place, was laid with quiet and fitting ceremony on September 17.—Correspondence.

The nucleus of the present First Church of Christ, Scientist, which was formally installed in its permanent church home Sunday, August 30, had its beginning sixteen years ago when two women of the city, one of whom had been healed Christian Science of a malady pronounced by the medical world to be incurable, met for the study of the teachings of Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy. From this first step the membership grew until a church building became possible, and during the past year the erection of the church was commenced, its completion being made last week. The windows were the gift of O. H. Hole, and as a testimonial of gratitude for complete restoration to health through Christian Science.
