Some eleven years ago I become interested in Christian Science through a sister who is a Scientist. She urged me to try it, for I was in very poor health. I attended the church three or four times, then moved away from my old home in minnesota to Oklahoma. There were no Scientists here at that time, and as I had not enough understanding to help myself, I went back to drugs. But I kept getting worse all the time.
I consulted a number of physicians. One said I had catarrh of both head and stomach. Another said I had a cancer of the stomach, and another, that I had nervous dyspepsia and female weakness. At this time I could not Read more than fifteen minutes at a time, my eyes were so painful. I then went to an oculist and he told me that the trouble was my nervous condition. I could not sleep well. The physician said that I would have to learn to control my nerves, as he had nothing that would help me. I then left his office, went to the Christian Science Reading Room, asked for some literature, sent for Science and Health and the Quarterly, and studied for myself. Through the study of Science and Health I have been healed of all these ailments.
We have had some very good demonstrations in our family since. One was over diphtheria. Our little daughter had it first and we called on the practitioner to help us. The second case was our fifteen-year-old boy, who handled his own case. Both got along all right, for which we are very thankful, and we have learned that if we trust, Truth can do all things, and does indeed make us free.—Mrs. E. H. Swanke, El Reno, O. T.
