Helping our Helpers

If a patient or student in Christian Science would think of himself and his healer or teacher as being the only occupants of a boat upon a storm-tossed sea, and then ask himself, "Shall I bend my energies and lend my strength to the oars, and assist the strong, experienced sailor to bring the frail craft out of danger, and into a harbor of safety?" his answer would be "I will;" and by the combined efforts they might reach their goal in just half the time. No one would sit idly by in the one case; but in the other one is often left to row the boat (do all the work) alone, and the patient wonders why his troubles do not disappear sooner, If we would only work as we are taught, and thereby help those who are helping us, we would regain health, and reach much sooner than we do the high standard of demonstration attainable for each of us. To do this is only another manifestation of obedience whereby we enter the harbor, the kingdom of heaven.
