A young man testified that during severe illness, the doctors prescribed morphine to allay suffering, taking this every one and one-half hours, but the suffering was not relieved by this method. Through Christian Science the pain was overcome, and the desire for morphine destroyed.
A middle-aged man spoke thus: "For some time I had been in poor health, suffering from the effects of a sunstroke. I sought the different schools of medicine for relief, first trying one, and then another without any permanent result. My wife had heard of Christian Science healing, but this I scorned, as I now see, through ignorance and prejudice, not having the faintest glimpse of what it really was. Finally, when I saw that I was getting no help from medicine, to please my wife, I consented to call on a Christian Scientist and did so. I informed the healer that I was rather sceptical, not having much faith in it. He assured me that Christian Science was not a faith cure, but a Science, and asked me if I were willing to be healed. To get relief was what I wanted, and I consented to give it a trail. I had always been afraid in the hot sun, but on leaving his home that day, I did not suffer from the effect of the heat, though it was a warm summer day. In less than one week I was healed and felt like a new man."
