Before becoming a student of Christian Science, I was under the care of a doctor, who said I had a tumor that should be removed immediately. This was more than I could bear at that time, and I stated I could not go through the experience of a surgical operation and its many months of recuperation.
A member of my family felt that I should have the opinion of another doctor. This doctor was quite concerned, too, after the examination and said I should be operated on immediately. I still felt I did not wish to submit to surgery.
I noticed that a Christian Science neighbor of mine was always happy, so when my problems were overwhelming, I decided to phone her to find out what she had to make her so happy.
