"A cheerful giver"
Martin Luther once said, "The heart of the giver makes the gift dear and precious."
Perhaps some of us desire to give generously to some worthy activity in the church but don't think we can afford to. If so, we can consider developing an enlightened spiritual consciousness that will convert our desire into reality.
We can see that both giving and receiving are based on spiritual understanding, and that really to give we must rely on God for the good we would impart. When we do so, we will find new joy in giving. The Bible declares, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." II Cor. 9:7;
