I could not measure my gratitude for Christian Science

I could not measure my gratitude for Christian Science. It has changed my life from one of weakness and sickness to one of usefulness and strength, from sadness to joy. Early I joined a branch church and worked on committees. I loved Christian Science. I had always been religious. Even as a little child I had had prayers answered through a deep trust in God. But, oh, how much I had to learn about God's great power and goodness!

There came a time when I found myself with three diseases, including heart trouble and tumors. I was so filled with fear that I could hardly sleep at night. I turned to a Christian Science practitioner for help. She took the case and stood by me constantly for four years. During this period a transformation began to take place in my consciousness. This was the real beginning of my journey from sense to Soul.

Sometimes I would telephone the practitioner in the middle of the night when great fear overwhelmed me. She was very patient and always encouraged me kindly. I was studying Christian Science almost constantly by this time, and I was beginning to see what I had to do. I needed to gain a better understanding of God and man and then to put this into practice—to live it. Self righteousness, self-pity, human will (all the "self" family) had to give way before the complete healing took place.
