David and the Lesson-Sermon

[Of special interest to children]

David was afraid of wasps!

Even though he loved Christian Science and wanted to believe what Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health. "All of God's creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible," Science and Health, p. 514 ; David was still fearful he might get stung. And even though he was comforted when he read in Science and Health that man is really spiritual, God's perfect child, David felt panicky w henever a wasp flew too close.

His parents spent time trying to help him see the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words. They explained that fear is a mortal mind belief and no part of God, or of man, God's image. Because he knew he was a reflection of God, no mortal mind belief could harm him. David thought he understood this; but although he wanted very much to lose his fear, he couldn't seem to do so.
